Many see religion as hypocritical when it comes to their church leaders and members. When it comes to the Bible, many have been told lies that it, the Bible is a book of fairytales and myths. Some see God as non-caring and cold. Then there are those who are confused about Jesus being God and vice versa. Others are deeply influenced by the world and what it seems to offer outside of living a godly life.

Satan has definitely got to be factored into the equation......The vast MAJORITY of nominal and non-denominal religions are under Satan's influence, control, and design based on the Bible. See Revelation chapter 17....The Bible speaks of Christendom and other false religions as sitting upon many waters (people). It the Bible calls this conglomeration of different religions and beliefs by the name "BABYLON THE GREAT" the world empire of false religion. Many people are turned off by religion, good or bad and that's just fine with Satan the Devil.
But don't forget about God, because Satan isn't the only person influencing our behavior.
God, Jehovah always influences people for the good and not the bad. Its not God's fault if people refuse to listen to Him (Deuteronomy 32:4-5)
2 timothy 3:5 speaks of certain ones like leaders of false religion and we should turn away from these...they have a appearance of godliness but proving false to its power, from these turn away ...so many churches will see a decline in members ..many teach things that are not actually in the bible. the question is who really does ??..jw.org can answer all questions on this subject
Many prophets of the Bible prophesied of our day. They said that many would depart from the truth and there would be great iniquity in our day. Prophets from both the Old and New Testaments prophesied that before the Great and Dreadful day of the Second coming of the Savior, there willl be a great apostasy and men will depart from the truth. This has happened because Satan is very cunning and has been able to deceive many with his lies. Many have surrendered themselves to the lies of Satan, and have departed from God, the Bible, and the truth.
I absolutely agree with you. Those who want to know have to make sure they are receiving "accurate knowledge" of what the Bible really teaches; because there are those in the world who go to theological schools of thought and who study the Bible for years. There are also people in our own "territory", or neighborhoods who study and read their Bible, but they done have a clue, or understanding or an idea about what they're reading....It will take those who are being used by Jehovah God to assist them to come to an accurate understanding of the Bible.....jw.org
Read a chapter of Proverbs every day. Proverbs has 31 chapters so you can keep your place by just looking at a calendar. There is no religion or nothing in Proverbs and you don't have to believe anything. Just read every day. When you are comfortable with that, then read the bible from Romans to 2 Thessalonians over and over until you start to remember what it says. That is the part that applies to Christians.
It only takes a few weeks of studying the bible to learn more than anybody in your church knows, including the minister. That is because almost nobody studies the bible; they study what other people have said about the bible. You have to be careful to be polite, because you can run rings around those people. You will be quoting passages from memory while they are thumbing through tracts and commentaries trying to find something to say.
True Christians read the Bible everyday. There are no specific books that we zero in on all the the time for repetitive purposes because the WHOLE Bible is beneficial in helping true christians in gaining and keeping God's approval, just as God's son Jesus did. However, because daily Bible reading and the sharing of Bible verses with others is a serious responsibility to true christians, they naturally with God's holy spirit are able to memorize and retain many, many Bible verses by memory (2nd Timothy 3:16,17; Matthew 3:17)....Also, real Christians are not in the business of "showing up others" or "running circles" around others with their knowledge of the Bible just to make others look inferior/bad. That is not showing real love for one another or anyone for that matter (1st Corinthian 13:5, Philippians 2:21, Philippians 2:4).
Due to the hypocrisy of the religious leaders, many people no longer believe in God or the Bible.
The Bible is the Word of God and beneficial for teaching, reproving and setting things straight - 2 Timothy 3 v 16 & 17.
It gives us reliable guidance for day to day living. Psalm 119 v 105

In the 19th century Americans started moving west and three institutions went with them. There was vaudeville, traveling entertainment. There was lyceum, traveling education and culture. And there was the itinerant preacher, offering a new style of preaching called "hell fire and brim stone". It was very entertaining, only loosely based on scripture, and pastors didn't even try to compete. Instead they switched to preaching public morality and philosophy. Eventually an entire generation grew up not knowing the first thing about the religion they claimed to believe. That is why most Christian churches don't teach doctrines, and most members don't know what they are supposed to believe.

I agree with you many in today's world see religion as confusing. Some view it as a fairy tale others as myths. the reason is that people are confuse of what is right and what is wrong . The scripture written in God's word at 2 Corinthians 4:4 tells us," The god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers,so that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ,who is the image of God,might not shine through."
Let's break down that scripture ;
1) First it says "The god of this system of things." Just think about it for a moment with all the wicked,bad horrible things that's happening in the world today, we can rightly say its not a god of love that's causing the whole world to be in such turmoil.
2) The second point says this worlds god has blinded the eyes of the unbelievers,so the glorious good news about the Christ,who is the image of God,might not shine through." So this clearly shows the god who is causing all the havoc in the world is blinding people from the truth about Jesus and his Father so that they will have doubts about the true God and his Son Jesus Christ.The more this wicked god block the truth from people about their Heavenly Creator and his Son Jesus Christ the more confuse and disorderly they will be. This is why many in the world don't know what to believe about religion and are turning away from Jesus and his Father. This wicked god is using many religious leaders to mislead,abuse and confuse mankind. Thanks to God's word the bible, we could come to have a very personal relationship with our God Jehovah and come to enjoy all the promises he is offering us.

People are turning away from God for more than one reason. Let's see what the Bible says on this :
1) 2 Corinthians 4:4, "Among whom the god of this system of things, has blinded the minds of the unbelievers."
The above scripture shows one could become blinded by the god of this system and loose sight of God almighty .
Due to unforeseen circumstances like death of a love one, lost of a job, and other disappointments in life causes some to turn away from God even casting blame for their loss. Many get distracted by ungodly things or ungodly life styles and so turn away from God. But whatever reason why they turn away from God isbnot a good reason enough because God our Heavenly Father is the one who gives them life and the reason why they are breathing is because God gives them the breath of life to go on, with out it they will be dead.
Because people don't take the time, nor do they put forth the effort to get to know the truth about God, who he is, and what is his will and purpose. After all, it's about how God wants to be worshipped and not how we want to worship God.
Many people just listen to what others say, they do not question it, they just repeat.
To really come to know God, you have to study his word the Bible, it's how he talks to us, he draws us to him. So, we have read, study, research and meditate on his word. We have to pray with a humble and sincere heart for true wisdom and understanding. He will direct us in the way to go.
Isaiah 30:21 And your own ears will hear a word behind you saying: This is the way. Walk in it, you people, in case you should go to the right or in case you should go to the left.
Let God be your guide and direct you, and you will find your way to exactly where you need to be. Once you learn the truth of a matter, you can very clearly recognize what is not the truth.
There is a big difference between turning against something, and not believing something ever existed.
I have always been against groups that put themselves above all others. I also dislike arrogance, and find it extremely difficult to like people who can't, or won't, answer simple questions. Don't tell me where you think I will go when I die, especially because you don't know where it even is. Believing things are possible simply because someone wrote them, doesn't make you right.
After you have spend dozens of years reading and studying people and their religions, you most likely will be a die hard Atheist too. It is so obvious why religions were established, obvious why they are all different, and why people cannot get along with each other. Won't you be shocked when you find out that by choosing a religion, you'll be the ones left behind!
