Always go to court. Often the cop doesn't show up, sometimes the judge doesn't show up. In either case you are off the hook. Never pay a fine without a trial.

The wrong birthdate isn't going to change or cancel the ticket so give up that idea. A long time ago i was told always to go to court because the judge always knocks off a few bucks. I went and he knocked off a lot of bucks. There was no trial no getting on the stand. Apparently showing up was worthwhile. I can't say it's that way now or that it was ever that way where you live but it was for me. If your ticket is a lot I'd go to court and pay it. If it's not much I'd just mail it in.
