I have a 8 in SCT and want to know if I kept it on my porch in the summer months with the caps on and a cover if it would be ok so I didn't have to keep it in the house.where there are to many obstacles to get through to get it outside.

You really don't want dust to collect. If it gets rained on, it begins to look bad. Changing temperature causes things to move inside and the results are unpredictable. You might find that a colony of bugs have discovered how to get inside. This is generally a bad idea.
