My modem receives 15 mbps and my computer gets 1 gbps connected with Ethernet cable. I used to get almost 3 mb/s as download speed then it randomly dropped to 300 kb/s. plz help this makes downloading stuff really hard.

It is impossible for anyone to help you other then your ISP which is your internet service provider as they are the only ones that can fix bandwidth speeds, and other problems. Asking online is not going to fix this for you.
Please contact your ISP!
Also have you tried unplugging the modem? Have you tried buying a new Ethernet cable? Have you contacted your ISP? Its possible that some software you installed recently might be slowing your speeds down as well which one of the software apps provided with my motherboard was doing to me till I figured it out.
Call your ISP after trying those other methods just to rule out its not on their end, and save you time & money for them having to do a service call & come to you. Most of them will charge you a hefty fee to come look themselves, and love you even more when they find its not on their end.
