What is more important, matter or energy?

Aren’t they interlinked like the infinity sign? Matter can neither be created nor destroyed. I haven’t been back to school never 35 years but if I remember correctly there’s gotta be an actual equation that transfers logically the energy of matter itself into the energy units the showing they are the same and they are transferable they are one and that there is no disconnect.

It’s just like the question of where do we go when we die my atheist brother believes that we just poof vanish. However I told him that’s not logical because we know that energy is neither created or destroyed it’s just transferred so there is energy in our body within our essence whatever it is if it just be our mitochondria or if it’s something else within us like a soul that you know all of us you know people who have faith in something higher than our mitochondria , Axons and dendrites and Nero pathic clefts etc. please forgive me once again I have an archaic human almost 50 years old and I am so freaking sucky at remembering the proper lingo in order to communicate spot on like our professors would’ve wanted us to do.

I don’t know it’s just my own theory I didn’t really read anything about this but I figure This is logical and I felt this my whole life Since I was a child.
