What sort of things did people wear in the 1920's?

Men from the 20’s almost always wore suits. A white shirt underneath was used to compliment the suit. Their shirts sometimes had little patterns on them. Both bow ties and normal ties were in style but bow ties were mostly reserved for special occasions. Men's normal ties were mostly geometric patterns like stripes or shapes. And some times, you would a see a guy wearing a shirt with stripes but his collar is all white. This would signify his collar being detachable. Their shoes were mostly black shiny leather, (called patent leather), and the most popular designs were wingtip and cap toe. The average length of hair for men in the 20's was 5-7 inches and it was combed back or parted and combed back. Men used a hair product called brilliantine and it was used to have that wet oily look. Men had plenty of styles of hats to choose from ranging from boaters to derby hats to fedoras.

Women from the 20's were called flappers, and wore dresses that had no definite waste line and was below knee length. The style for them was flat chested and women used a triangular bra to flatten their chests under the dress. They wore panty hoes with garters on the thigh to keep them pulled up. They had small feet too, the average shoe size being 4-6. Their shoes had a heel that was approximately 1 inch high, they were called T straps because the front of the shoe was open with one strap coming from the front and joining another one going around the ankle forming a T shape. When women put on lipstick, they made the top parts of their lip appear higher(you can see this in most 20's photographs). They did there hair in finger waves or bobbed hair styles. Women's hats looked like a helmet. (slipping over their head).

But there is one thing I must clear up, flappers never wore that feather headband you see on cheap Halloween costumes and in the 20's men rarely carried guns. Although the 20's had plenty of crime this is not what it was all about. The 1920's was a period after World War One and was time to celebrate, this created a lot of good music and fashion. Everyone was happy and wanted to dance.

I know this was a lot to read but I am an expert on the 1920's and have been waiting for a question like this for a long time!
