I need to know how long coroner can examine the body of dead in car accident before his/her family can take it for the funeral?

On average a corpse stays in our refrigerator between 2-5 days after an autopsy. Homides and suicides can take a little longer. Even after the coroner releases the body, How long is often determined by how long it takes the funural home the family has chosen to submit the paperwork to have the body released to them which can take 2-3 days
I forgot to mention, the actual time it takes to do an autopsy is about 2-3 hours and is usually performed the next day after the death. Before hand the corpse is processed, ID, and Toxicology taken..
