I have a couple of old shirts and also a set of sheets made from a mix of Rayon and Polyester. The sheets in particular come out of the dryer like they've been ironed and the shirts also look pretty good (unwrinkled) out of the dryer. No company seems to use this combination of fabrics any more, but my experience is that it is nearly ideal. Anyone know why this isn't used any longer?

Polyester-rayon gained fame as the material of the leisure suit, which is now considered the ultimate in tackiness. The fabric had a tendency to be shiny, and sometimes sweaty, and was easily recognized as a cheap simulation of a suit. Rayon is now called bamboo and is very popular for bedding, and of course poly-cotton blend is everywhere.
Rayon is made from cellulose, and for some reason they like bamboo as the source of the cellulose. I don't happen to like the bedding.
