Why do we see people look up when an aeroplane passes overhead , high up in sky?

it might be they can hear it over head this would cause them to look and pay attention it might be real loud this would cause someone to look above them it also could be there is something eye catching on the plane that would catch a persons eye that would draw attention to the plane lots of reasons why this would occur
