I started out my stay with a 1 year lease agreement. I went through that year and at the end we called and asked to stay, the landlord verbally agreed. It is now 2 years later and we have just been staying here paying on time never late and he hasn't said one word. We want to move but we need to know what he can legally do if we just left, we of course will clean up the apartment to the best of our ability but we know that he might not like the lived in condition, as this apartment wasn't "new" before we got here and it dosent look any better. Carpets in the kitchen for example, that is a disaster waiting to happen and it has slightly but not non repairable just he is probably gonna need to clean the floors. He should have replaced them before we moved in because it was already bad before hand.

First you have to see if you are on a new lease agreement or if you are on a month to month lease I would go talk to the landlord and see you would have had to of signed a new lease to be there or even a month to month I would call and ask or go there in person because you need to know which type of lease your on.
