Okay, so I recently got a black lab who is 9 weeks old. She was raised on a farm, so she's used to being outside. We have been letting her out in our backyard to play whenever she asks to, which is pretty much whenever she's not sleeping. After she went for a pee and came back in, she barked at the door to go out again. I decided it was a good idea to train her to stay in and that she doesn't ALWAYS need to be outside to play, so I didn't let her out. I don't want to raise my dog to constantly be outside, she needs to be able to be happy inside also. So even though she was barking, I didn't let her back out like I usually do. She was whining and barking and howling non stop for 15-20 minutes. I put her in her crate and told her "NO" every once in awhile to shown her not to bark non stop when she wants to go outside. My question: is this a good idea? To put her in her crate? I really want to teach her to be happy inside also, and to not let her outside everytime she barks. Should I just ignore her, but not put her in her crate? Should I scold her? What should I do? Thanks!
