today I've been getting calls from an unknown number every 2-3 hours, I don't pick up but I'm really scared and worried. should I pick up and ask what they want, should I be worried since they keep persistently calling?

What I'd do is find out the first three numbers of the unknown number on Google. Usually, it'll show as a scam. But other times, it might be someone in your area that's trying to either mislead you, or in very very rare cases has gotten the wrong number. Just either pick up if you think it's safe, but don't if it's a scam number online.
Oh. Usually those are scams. If they don't show a number, they will most likely won't get caught. Alot of scams do that. Just ignore them for now, if they keep calling just respond and if it's a scammer just hang up immediately. You don't want to get scammed, do you? :P

Stop living in fear. It makes no sense to be afraid of a telephone number. If you have a cellphone, it costs you every time you answer, so you only answer calls that you know about and are willing to pay for. Everybody else can leave a voice mail or send you a text message.
Either a telemarketer or a friend playing a practical joke. My friends did it all the time from like elementary to middle school. Id say answer if you don't say anything and a random recording starts saying you won something or asking you to sell your home; its a telemarketer.
