Old technologies? The best thing? Master them. You’ll then be one of those few individuals who can contribute positive and constructive solutions when all the latest digital dinguses go haywire.
Also, it’s kind of like upcycling, rather than consigning functional stuff to a landfill.
Greener.
Most informed tech-heads know that the cost we pay for new gear never reflects the total, holistic cost, when factors like the ecological cost of resource extraction, or the amount of capital energy and it’s ecological cost, as well as the labour and time invested, are taken into account. We all know that the greenest car, for instance, when all those factors of ecological cost are honestly accounted for, is the one you keep running well and cleanly for 25 years.
