A friend who has unfortunately being send to prison for motoring. Offences and owes a lot of debts unsecured loans credit cards etc he recons all this debt will be written off now that he is in prison and he will be albe to make a fresh start when he comes. Out at a new address. Is this correct ?

it depends on what the law allows in his case i think if the judge recognizes this it could be true if he is going jail time for the things you mention it might be up to the laws concerning how they handle such things if its how the state does things where he resides

I add only to comment on how correct this answer is, ignore the one below (too funny!), and add, don't forget about the interest! Repo people may well claim some of his stuff while he is in prison too.
