So my cat died earlier this morning from either a seizure or a stroke. He had cancer and had a tumor on his spleen. The vet people said that they could try and remove his WHOLE spleen but my parents said that that wasn't a good idea, and that it wouldn't fun or fair for him to have to suffer recovering from his surgery. He was a really important friend in my life and just losing him is just the hardest thing. Any tips on how to grieve after the loss of a cat?
I’m so deeply sorry for your loss. My condolences to you and your family during this time in 2020. You should look at old photographs of Rocket, talk about the funny things about Rocket, share stories of Rocket. If you have taken any videos, please watch them. I know it’s hard to lose someone this way, especially when it’s your own pet. Saying goodbye was probably the hardest part of your life that you had to go through. But just know, deep down inside, Rocket loves you so much and thanks you for caring for him during his years.
In Chinese culture, when someone passes away, they say that “Life is Sweet”. So to honor your lost loved one, you go and eat something sweet. Eat something sweet like an ice cream or a donut or an apple fritter. Anything that screams sweet to you. This might not help you with your grieving process, but just know that life is sweet, even if there’s cruelity to it.
I am very sorry that you lost your loving cat I have six rescues that I took from abusive situations and am committed to giving them the best life possible. They are my children. It's normal to grieve everyone is different but do take the time to grieve it took me 10 years to get over a loss of a cat where I wasn't crying at least once a week. I did not have time to grieve at the time of the loss because it was Christmas and I was working in an extremely busy department store. One comfort you can have is knowing that you gave him the best life possible. There are so many abused that's out there and it breaks my heart
I think looking back at old photographs and sharing stories with friends and family is a good start. But there are other options which include attending a grieving session virtually (since we are still in the middle of COVID-19) and perhaps reading books that talk about the steps of grieving and how we can overcome our sadness. But I think reflecting on the fact that you gave him the best life possible. There are hundreds if not thousands of animals out there that have been abandoned by their owners and they have no home to go to.
Online grieving sessions are available for those who are in the middle of the grieving process. I’m so sorry to hear about your cat. You just gave him the best life possible. Talking about Rocket helps you feel better, it helps you not feel so lonely. So I think you should really look into attending virtual grieving sessions online.
