They came about an hour after I left and never knocked or anything. I'm worried and nervous. I feel guilty.

If they know you stole something they will be back, with a warrant which can lead to an arrest or a summit to appear to court. Smartest thing to do in this situation would be to go to the police station and turn your self in. It is a very miner charge, could be settled with a fine aswell.
it will be hard to do but get a lawyer 1st thing youll needed it then you cant do this on your own. then get it worked out with the police and store your probilly going to be charge with shoplifting but with help of your lawyer it well work out and if it's your 1st time catch doing this there are programs you can take to get help because you might only been catch this time changes are that it's not your 1st time shoplifting. it's the hardest part to own up to and most time there's a reason behind it and you will need help to stay out of trouble on this ... it will take time and the waiting will be the worsed but if you don't get a lawyer and you just wait it out it could be way worse and it will be with you even after you pay for what you did and you'll have to live with this it never will go away like some people say done and over after you do the court punishment ... I know I'm learning to understand why I did it and that's the hardest part along with the Humiliation and embarrassment and all the waiting it does affect your life past present and future.. like i said get a lawyer be up front with everything and your going to have to learn that its a very slow processes dealing wth the court stuff and get youself a professional to talk to it will help with all the emotions that will hit you going thought it. if you wait charges are they have your address they have information and you will be arrested at some point . better to be lawyer up before it happens . good luck
