... anywhere. He usually disappears but only for a day and doesn't go far from his territory. Now I'm really worried about him. Do you have any personal experience to give me advice. He is only one years old and it's not typical to him not to appear during a day.

My (house)cat got out one night. From experience, I'd say not to worry. He was gone for a week but we got him back in the house when we saw him sitting just outside the front garden. Cats will always return home, as they know it's a reliable source of food.
Just keep your eye out. In all likelihood, someone has been giving him food and he's been going there, but he will come back eventually. If he's chipped and you're really worried, you can always track his location.
